Before you make any assumptions, this is not a religious book. Conversations with God was written by a guy who was frustrated with his life.

After failed job after job, broken marriages, living on the breadline, a stint living on the streets and many other real life struggles, Neale Donald Walsch sat down one night with a notepad and started to write a letter of complaint to God.

“Why is my life always such a struggle? – When am I going to have enough money so I don’t have to worry all the time? – What do I have to do to stay in a relationship?”

To his amazement, he found himself writing out the answers.

God was answering him.

This was the beginning of a dialogue that would go on to discuss the subjects in life that we all question either in our heads or to other people.

What happens when you die?

Why doesn’t God show himself to prove he is real?

Is there life on other planets?

Is the devil real?

Is it wrong to think about sex?

This book, as wacky as it seems, actually addresses the facts of life with amazing clarity and advice that millions of people around the world have described as nothing short of life changing.

‘God’ answered back with such wisdom, lack of judgement and clarity that it provides an entire belief system that is very difficult to challenge.

Lives have been changed by these new awarenesses, releasing guilt and providing confidence to people that were living on entire negative belief systems that were slowly destroying their self esteem and livelihoods.

Now, I know this sounds a little wayout, and the author even questioned God asking, “How do I know you’re God and not just a crazy voice in my head?”

“What difference would it make?” was the answer God gave him, “ What other answers do you have?”

That was the point in the book where I realised that although it may be a fantasy concept, what other answers do we have?

You would struggle to find any that make as much sense as ‘God’s’ answers in this first book of the trilogy.

Other jaw dropping statements such as:

“Those who wrote the bible were wrong – Jesus wasn’t perfect – and Hitler went to heaven”, opens up a complexed debate that challenges the way we think about life with amazing clarity and logic.
