YOUR SELF DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY

Jim Rohn said, “Formal education can make you a living, but self-education will make you fortune”. Personal Development is one of my core values. These values are non-negotiable in my life and Self Development is right up there, high on the list. My personal mission statement is, “Be the Best I can Be”, and to do that I know that I have to constantly work to be better, and I do that in many ways. The books I read, the things I listen to, the events I attend and the people I associate with are a few. The thing about self-development is, it’s not a destination, there is no end. I think that may put people off, but for me it’s a mindset and a mission that I enjoy. I love learning new things and picking up ideas from others. I think we all have that in us. How many times have you attended an off-site training course, seminar or a workshop and literally hated the thought of going, but once it was over you thought it was the best thing you ever did and made you determined to start a new life the following Monday!! We all secretly love learning new things, but the trick is to find a medium that drives and inspires is. For many its reading but that can also turn many people off the...

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL – DAVE HARRISON

Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Up Close & Personal. I managed to find a quiet little spot this evening after our first day at the Oak Group Summit, so I can interview one of its founding members.  I first met this guy when he was brave enough to take a hot seat at one of our Discovery Days. He must have loved the process because he signed up straight after it to become a member of the Renegade Masterminds, which I’m lucky enough to lead myself. He’s an integral part of that group and a very...

REST & RECUPERATION

I keep hearing that holidays get in the way or come at the wrong time. Personally, I don’t understand that. As a business owner we work long, and we work hard. Our lives are full of stress and downtime is minimal. That’s why I enjoy this time of year. Christmas is a great time to switch the phone off and concentrate on what’s important in your life. 99% of the business population have downed tools and that can ensure a bit of peace and quiet. Unless you’re in retail or leisure at this time of year you should switch...

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL – JASPER WALSHE

Hello everyone and welcome to a special edition of Up Close & Personal. What’s so special about it I hear you shout. . . Well, it’s special for 2 reasons. Firstly, I’m joined by my fellow Renegade and our Founder, Dave Dean, which may not be hugely unusual, although I do normally do these interviews alone.  What is really special is me and Dave have jumped on a plane and taken a short trip to the beautiful Emerald Isle and we’re sat in the fantastic city of Dublin.  So, before I introduce our special guest, I should say hello...

CAN’T MEANS WON’T

The C Word! No, not that one, to be fair, that isn’t suitable in any situation or circumstance. The C Word that I find even more offensive is CAN’T. Seriously, I despise the word. That said, I’ve caught myself saying it every so often and then I have to administer a good old-fashioned kick up the arse! That said, I CAN’T eradicate it from my life, because so many people still use it. It’s used for so many reasons, and in my experience, it’s mostly used as an excuse to get out of doing something that you know you...
