Make your Vision a Priority – Part 2

Last month I wrote about making your vision a priority and how that enabled me to have a true north or something that guided my decision-making processes. This month I want to continue with helping you make a start and hopefully getting your thoughts into some order. The end goal is for you to have that vision clearly down on paper. Think about these questions first of all: Where do you want to end up? What do you want to be known for? Who will you be with? What will you be doing? Are you treading water or catching waves? Is it in line with what you are doing now? Yes – good, No – oh shit, what are you going to do about that? I confessed last month that I found this process really tough. I’ve coached a number of people through this and I get some comfort from that fact that I was not alone in the struggle. I felt there was a school of thought that it had to be done in a certain way, or I was failing myself and the process. That caused me to give up too easily and accept defeat. At many stages I made excuse after excuse along the lines of, “I’m not creative” or “I don’t need a vision, I’ve got this far without one.” Then I just did what...

MAKE YOUR VISION A PRIORITY – PART 1

“One day, your life will flash before your eyes – make sure it’s a great watch” Anon – Toilet Wall, My Friends Place, St Lawrence Gap, Barbados. It’s amazing where you can get inspiration from and the above quote is actually in the gents’ toilet in a little shack which I spotted whilst on holiday. I get asked a lot from many people, some perhaps should know better, “Why should I waste my time writing a vision statement?” Many see it as a waste of time, and effort. Quite frankly, you couldn’t be further from the truth. I always answer that with the following statement. “If you don’t know where you are going, how do you know when you get there?” Or you could ask, “What is it that you want, what you really, really want?” (I’m in danger of sounding like a Spice Girl here!!) Quite often when faced with that question, a realisation dawns that many of us are chasing something or doing something that isn’t anywhere where we really want to be or do. That can be a very sobering experience. You wouldn’t set out from home tomorrow, for a family holiday or a romantic weekend away with your better half without knowing where you were going to end up. You may not have an idea of the entire route you will take or how you’ll...

Here at Renegades we are constantly trying to show more and more business owners that there is more to life than the daily grind of self-employment. Over the next 2 months I want to share a section of that process and here’s the first part for you. Health and Wellbeing and being healthy on the inside and the outside...

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL – PAUL REES

Hello everyone! It’s my pleasure to welcome you to another edition of Up Close & Personal for the Renegade Magazine. I actually love this part of the editor’s role as I get to go out to see some of our Master level members in their own environments, and for me today it’s a pretty special one. I’ve been waiting to do this interview since this guy bounded into my life some 9 months ago and I’m lucky enough to have his presence in my Oak Mastermind Group. And it’s fair to say that he’s an amazing and well-loved member....
