MONEY ON THE MOVE…

WHY SITTING AT YOUR DESK IS THE SLOW WAY TO GROW 10 years ago the entrepreneur at the top of their game used a word document and an email to wow potential clients, suppliers and competitors alike to make his mark in this world of business. These days, those practices are natural, given communication tools and standard practice at best. The world, and especially the world of business, is a million miles away from the previous decade that many of us know, the speed of change is ever increasing and is certain not to slow down anytime soon or...

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND ITS IMPORTANCE

When emotional intelligence was first talked about and presented to the masses, it served as the missing link in a peculiar finding: people with average IQs outperform those with the highest IQs 70% of the time. This research and the data it produced challenged what many people had always assumed was the sole source of success – IQ. Decades of research now point to emotional intelligence as the main factor that sets star performers apart from the rest of the pack. Emotional intelligence is the “something” in each of us that is a bit intangible. That ‘thing’ you can’t quite put your finger on. It affects how we behave, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. Emotional intelligence is made up of four core skills that fall into two main brackets: personal competence and social competence. Personal competence is your self-awareness and self-management skills, which is more about you individually rather than how you interact with other people. It’s your ability to stay aware of your emotions and manage your behavior and how you tend to act on a daily basis. Self-Awareness is your ability to accurately perceive your emotions and stay aware of them as they happen. Self-Management is your ability to use awareness of your emotions to stay flexible and positively direct your behavior. Social competence is made up of your social awareness...

IT’S NEVER BEEN BETTER

How we live in the greatest era of opportunity and how persistence always pays off One of the main differences between the average business owner and a true entrepreneur is the ability to see opportunities in situations and finding a way to harness them to create wealth. Instead of seeing the obstacles that need to be tackled and being held back, they are accepted as part of the journey to the end goal. Historically, those who dared to make a difference and walk their path in life have always faced difficulties
that would send most so called ‘sane’
human beings...

IT’S OK TO LOOK AFTER NUMBER ONE

With the end of calendar year now upon us, I encourage you to take some time away from your ‘desk’ to self-reflect. Whether you do this yourself, or with your team just make sure you do it! Self-awareness is so important – don’t just cruise aimlessly on autopilot through life like so many do and wind up at the wrong end of the cause and effect equation! Many driven entrepreneurs that have been in business for more than a couple years will be familiar with Stephen Covey’s “Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People” and specifically the habit called “Sharpening the Saw”. If you haven’t read this then I beg you to do so. This basically refers to taking care of oneself on a regular basis to be able to be more effective in your relationships with others and in your business. For the entrepreneur, this is probably one of the most important and highly neglected habits. Entrepreneurs are known for working themselves into exhaustion on a regular basis, blurring the lines between work and home life (much to the disgruntlement of our partners)to the point where they are working seven days a week, 10-18 hours a day. There are times, no doubt, when this level of effort is required to get an entrepreneurial venture off the ground or to keep it going during tough times. We have all do...

THE KEY TO THE SAFE IN YOUR MIND

Gavin Bradbury unlocks the myth of Masterminds being an elitist process… A ‘Mastermind’ sounds like something mysterious, highbrow or evil, doesn’t it? Something that happens in the shadows and contains only the elite select few who are the ‘chosen ones’, a cult even. Well, it’s not. A Mastermind is anything but evil or mysterious, there are no shadows and no cult. ‘Masterminders’ are chosen though, that is true, chosen by themselves to enter a process that, when fully engaged, is guaranteed to elevate all aspects of their lives way beyond their expectations. A Mastermind is about friendship, trust, advice,...
